Project and Construction Management
RSV Australia’s project management methodology conforms to the knowledge areas of the Project management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).
Project Teams are generally under the general direction of experienced and competent Project Managers who have been accredited as Project Management Professionals (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) of the USA. Systems have been employed on mine development sites and tested in the real construction and project management domain. RSV has a track record of delivering complex, multi-functional EPCM mine contracts on time, on budget and to quality requirements.
Construction Management is viewed as a critical component of the overall project management function. RSV Australia has experienced Construction Managers to control the important tasks of safety and security, construction supervision, field engineering, contract administration, project control, site administration and materials control.
The Construction Management Plan will provide a detailed operations plan for construction, in conjunction with contractor and client inputs and is the blueprint for scheduling, cost and quality management, including commissioning and start-up strategies to hand over and close out plans.
Tri-partite relationships between client, consultant (engineer) and contractor are proven as the most effective in complex project delivery. The EPCM consultant acts as the client representative, removing the highly technical and onerous management of the event (time, cost and quality) from both the client and the contractor. The contractor is left to perform what they are best equipped to deliver – construction and engineering while the client is free to practice what clients should – corporate affairs and operations. This professional approach, under the watchful guidance of professional quantity surveyors in the role of measuring and contract administration, is proven to best align the various skill sets in delivery of the proposed outcome.
In large and commercially exposed mining projects, the contractor should not be left to self regulate construction performance and equally important, Client Project Managers should not be exposed to the rigours of managing contractors and site operations. Client Project Managers are best equipped at establishing scope parameters, managing internal and external corporate stakeholders and making final deliberations on matters of importance.
